i’m prone to come up with a clever line or two but i can’t take credit for the catchy post title this time. the title was inspired by Tonya Rapely of My Fab Finance. i was listening to Tonya's journey as a part of a financial literacy video series where she states that she asked herself this very question. "how much am i getting paid to give up on my dreams." how powerful is that question? many times we don't get the right answers because we are not asking the right questions. well that my dear friends is the right question to ask yourself if you are entrepreneur driven yet are not happy settling for working as an employee. entrepreneur minded individuals sometimes work as an employee as a hold over until we figure out at least our why and our what. there’s also many should be entrepreneurs who are using working for someone else as a cop-out to avoid doing the hard work of understanding and monetizing our entrepreneurial skills.
yep I said it COP-OUT. if you are reading this and the cop-out label makes you feel some type of way, well don’t feel bad. i was once in the same mediocre reality knowing without a doubt that i had far more to offer and yet i chose the easy route instead. had i taken the time to think things through, began to pivot and devised my plan, i would be much further into a successful career as an entrepreneur. unfortunately it cost me in time, progress, energy and stress and i did it too myself all because of uncertainty. i let my fulfilled life get further out of my reach when i didn’t have to. well I’m here to tell you that you don’t have to either it's not too late for you. take a look at common beliefs most consider to be benefits of having a job over pursuing their desire to be an entrepreneur and why you are looking at it all wrong:
sometimes resistance is a result of our faith but no action banter
i finally came to terms with the fact that no excuse about uncertainty, the falsehood of job security, the realities of familial responsibilities or fear was worth giving up on my dreams and my full potential as a thriving successful entrepreneur. i only have one life to live and my greatest fear is that I will leave this earth with all of my potential yet untapped by those i'm meant to serve. instead of putting so much energy into all of the crazy reasons of why not, i created an action plan for HOW. once I began to operate in my calling, my passion and my purpose to formulate how I could create an entrepreneur lifestyle, much of the uncertainty subsided. if you haven’t already done so, take the time to start your exit strategy and share your experience with me. there's no amount of money an employer can pay you to forgo living your best, most fulfilled life while you still can. it's your choice. i hope you choose you.
